What is Sand Casting?

Sand Casting is a very traditional manufacturing processes and one where sand is compacted around a replica of the end product to create a mould. After this, molten metal is poured into the mould through a runner system before being left to cool. Once cooled the sand is removed to reveal the end product. Then the fettling process is done.

Why choose Sand Casting?

Commonly used due to its compatibility with a wide range of metals including aluminium, steel and iron, sand casting is recognised for its cost-effectiveness when producing large items where surface finish and tolerances are not exacting.
